When designing the furniture layout, and selecting furniture and decor, Amy knew that she wanted an inviting and cozy space, with a modern feel. Her designer, cousin Kelsey Pearl, knocked it out of the park with the color pallet of blues, golds, whites, and warm wood tones to achieve that look and feel. It was also important to Amy that the space be multifunctional for the multipurpose intended use of The Palmer as an event space, bridal suite, and Airbnb for overnight/short-term stays.
That meant having a large sectional sofa perfect for gatherings, but it also has a full size sleeper sofa for overnight guests.

The sectional seating is supplemented with two lounge chairs, including one in the corner near one of the large windows, that can serve as a reading nook to Airbnb guests.

This lamp was the perfect solution for extra light for the reading nook.

The coffee table needed to be light weight enough for guests to be able to move when Airbnb guests need access to the sleeper sofa, but it also needed to be functional for bridal parties and events. Wayfair had the perfect solution.

Amy selected this piece, a one of a kind refinish/refurbish project, done by Sherry, owner and founder of Alpaca Furniture Revitalization, a small business in the Kansas City Area, as the anchor of the living room, and built the remaining selections around it. There is plenty of storage for sleeper sofa bedding, books, and games for Airbnb guests, and the top is large enough for using as a buffet or beverage bar for events, or even a hair and makeup area for bridal parties using The Palmer as a bridal suite before heading over to the Armory. The television hangs above this piece. We repurposed the night stand into a side table for the reading nook.

The Roku TV is perfect for streaming music to set the vibe for bridal parties using The Palmer as a bridal suite, it is also large enough to be used as a display screen for corporate meetings and events, and is the perfect size for hosting sporting event watch parties. Roku TVs are easy for guests to log into their own streaming accounts.

This bench was perfect to add some extra seating for events and gatherings, or to be used as a drop station for bridal parties and Airbnb guests.

The large windows bring in a lot of natural light, which is great for getting ready during the day. The natural light is supplemented with a statement chandelier and lamps, all with LED lighting.

This area rug (picked out by Amy’s cousin, Andrea, who has an amazing eye for design, while making considerations for practicality- think budgets, function, use, etc.) really ties the entire space together. The Palmer rug is 7 x 10, and was sold out online at the time of this post, but there are many other sizes.

The curtain rods tie to the gold accents and accessories throughout the space.

The drapes are blackout, perfect for Airbnb guests using the sleeper sofa; however, they don’t have the heavy look and feel, which is perfect to have a light and bright space for the bridal parties using The Palmer as a bridal suite.

In the spirit of functionality, these hooks are perfect right behind the front door for coats, purses, umbrellas, etc.

Again, blending function with design, these faux marble coasters really elevate the space and are the perfect accent for the coffee table and side table.
