Marjorie Grace, LLC, founded, owned, and operated by Amy Guerich, owns “The Palmer”, a historic home turned event space and vacation rental in the charming town of St. Marys, KS. MG, LLC, is named after Grace Farrell, original owner of The Palmer, and Marjorie Pearl Guerich (Marj), the second owner, and the late beloved grandmother of Amy Guerich.
Grace and her husband, Joe, lived in the house, which was built in the late 1880s. They were family friends of the Pearls, and when Grace passed in 1971, her children gave Marjorie, a single mother of two teenagers, the first chance to purchase it, which was very welcome and necessary given that Marjorie was living in a rental house. Marjorie owned the house until her death in 2014, at which time Amy, sold to a family that renovated and then sold it to another local St. Marys family. In 2024, Amy had the chance to purchase the property, and that is when the vision for The Palmer was born. After several small renovation projects, The Palmer is ready to welcome guests.
Amy grew up spending school breaks at The Palmer, from the time she could remember, through her time attending Kansas State University, and after graduation, she continued to break away from her career as a personal financial planner spending downtime at The Palmer. Her grandmother, Marjorie, hosted countless family gatherings from holiday dinners, to card parties, to celebratory open houses. She absolutely loved having the house serve as a hub for gatherings.
The Palmer is the perfect bridal suite for wedding parties hosting wedding receptions at the Armory, weddings and receptions at the Immaculata, Immaculate Conception, and the Methodist churches. With several mirrors, vanities, and tons of natural light, it is the perfect venue to get ready in a comfortable, nice, and relaxed setting.
Are you looking for a place to host a cocktail hour or come and go open house, or brunch for 20 or fewer guests? What about a class reunion? Looking for a combination of indoor or outdoor spaces? What about a seated meal for 20 or fewer guests? The Palmer has a beautiful open kitchen/dining concept with the flexibility to bring all of your own supplies, decor, food, and beverage, or utilize the supplies that are there.
If you are looking for a place to host a family dinner or a corporate meeting or retreat, club or association gathering, The Palmer is the perfect place as there is a large dining/board room table, fully equipped kitchen, and many different seating areas as well as outdoor space.
The Palmer makes a great venue for hosting sporting event watch parties, including college and NFL football games, as there is one 65 inch and two 55 inch Roku TVs that can stream almost anything, along with a large sectional sofa perfect for getting comfortable while cheering on your favorite team.
The Palmer has a king bedroom, queen bedroom, and full size pullout sofa, and one bathroom, which is perfect for sleeping six guests for overnight, long weekend, or week-long stays, either as a standalone stay or as an add on to a gathering or event.
Amy Guerich is a career financial planner after having graduated with an undergraduate degree in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University. She co-owns and operates Stepp & Rothwell, Inc., a comprehensive and boutique personal financial planning firm and multifamily family office with clients in St. Marys, Kansas City, and 30+ states outside of Kansas and Missouri.
When Amy isn’t serving S&R staff and clients, she has a passion for the arts and education, serving on the board of Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, and the Kansas State University College of Business Dean’s Advisory board in Manhattan. She is a member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and the Estate Planning Society of Kansas City. She also loves service, hospitality, entertaining, hosting, food, and wine. She’s hosted countless corporate events, birthday parties, retirement parties, holiday parties, and other celebratory events over the last 20 years, ranging from 4-300 attendees, including causal and formal dinners, cocktail parties, backyard cookouts, football watch parties, and more. After having spent many summer and holiday breaks in St. Marys growing up, and being a part of the Pearl Family, a sixth generation St. Marys family, she loves the community and is excited to give back to St. Marys through The Palmer.
